Conserving Loy Krathong tradition

Chulabhorn Graduate Institute recognized the importance of the Loy Krathong tradition as a means to conserve Thai tradition and thus organized the Loy Krathong Festival on 25 November, 2015, the date which corresponded to the full moon of the twelfth month of the traditional Thai lunar calendar. The Loy Krathong activities were organized around the small pond, nearby cafeteria, on the first floor, of Chulabhorn Graduate Institute. The aim of this tradition was for the people to offer apologies for any wrongdoing they may have caused to the rivers show their gratitude to the Goddess of Water, while conserving this traditional Thai culture. On that day, Associate Professor Dr.Piniti Ratananukul, Acting Vice Rector of Chulabhorn Graduate Institute presided over the activities. which included selling ‘kratongs’ made from natural materials such as banana leafs, and playing the Lucky Winner Game. A relatively large number of participants attended the festival.
