CGI student has been awarded the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships

Miss Pakjira Nanudorn

CGI would like to congratulate Miss Pakjira Nanudorn, Ph.D. candidate in the Doctor of Philosophy Program in Applied Biological Sciences (International Program) at Chulabhorn Graduate Institute, for being awarded a research scholarship from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich for 1 year (September 2018-August 2019). Miss Pakjira Nanudorn will conduct research with Prof.Dr.Jörn Piel, the expert researcher in Bacterial Natural product.

Prof.Dr.Jörn Piel

The Piel Lab - Bacterial Natural Products

Natural products are the basis of many drugs and an inspiration for synthetic chemists. We aim to understand how structurally complex natural products are made by organisms. We then use biosynthetic knowledge to generate structural diversity not yet encountered in Nature and to create sustainable sources of rare bioactive compounds. To achieve these goals, scientists from diverse backgrounds, including analytical and synthetic chemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology and bioinformatics, collaborate in our group.
