CGCB 604 Organic Synthesis (3 credits)

Prerequisite: CGCB 501 Advanced Organic Chemistry or equivalent

Course Description

This course will cover some modern concepts of organic synthesis and their applications towards the design and synthesis of biologically active and medicinally useful natural products, potential drug candidates, as well as drugs that are currently in clinical use. The focus will be placed on retrosynthetic analysis, stereochemically controlled synthesis, chemical and biological catalysis, application of organometallic reactions, and reaction mechanisms.
