Chulabhorn Graduate Institute, in collaboration with Chulabhorn Research Institute and Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), held the 2nd Symposium for the Distinguished Lectureship on the International Cutting-Edge Organic Chemistry in Asia.

Chulabhorn Graduate Institute collaborated with Chulabhorn Research Institute and Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) in organizing the 2nd Symposium for the Distinguished Lectureship on the International Cutting-Edge Organic Chemistry in Asia on 20-24 August 2024 at the Chulabhorn Research Institute Conference Center, Lak Si District, Bangkok. Professor Emeritus Dr. Somsak Ruchirawat presided over the opening of this event on 21 August 2024 at 9:00 AM. Twelve resource persons from China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, who have won Lectureship Awards for distinguished research achievements in Organic Chemistry, were invited to present lectures on their works for the purpose of promoting research cooperation between universities in Thailand and those in the Asia-Pacific region. This activity was also aimed to provide opportunities for graduate students from 20 universities to meet with leading researchers from the countries in this region and thereby to widen and enhance their research experiences. There were approximately 200 participants in the event.

This was the second symposium of its kind, whose purpose is to promote research and development of the study in Organic Chemistry, as well as the quality and continuation of its application in the Asia Pacific. The principal activity is the International Conference on Cutting-Edge Organic Chemistry in Asia (ICCEOCA), which is annually organized in rotation among the member countries. The purpose of ICCEOC is to serve as a venue to demonstrate progress and achievements in Organic Chemistry in Asia and to encourage other research activities related to Asia. Moreover, it is also aimed to encourage exchanges of knowledge between researchers in the scope of Organic Chemistry that is not limited to synthetic chemistry but rather covers nanochemistry, green chemistry, natural products chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, structural and material sciences, environmental chemistry, and the application of all these fields for the benefit of society and the economy of the Asian region.

This conference serves as an important venue that offers opportunities for Thai researchers to acquire new knowledge directly from specialists. The learning and acquisition of such knowledge offer long-term benefits to Thai researchers, especially by creating in them an enthusiasm for an ongoing inquiry about new knowledge, which will, in turn, result in the development of personnel to engage in research that is highly relevant to development of the country.

สถาบันบัณฑิตศึกษาจุฬาภรณ์ สถาบันวิจัยจุฬาภรณ์ และกรมความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศ (TICA) ได้ร่วมกันจัดงานประชุมวิชาการนานาชาติ ภายใต้โครงการความร่วมมือทางวิชาการในสาขาวิชาอินทรีย์เคมีในภูมิภาคเอเชีย The 2nd Symposium for the Distinguished Lectureship Awards on the International Cutting-Edge Organic Chemistry in Asia ระหว่างวันที่ 20-24 สิงหาคม 2567 ณ ศูนย์ประชุมสถาบันวิจัยจุฬาภรณ์ เขตหลักสี่ กรุงเทพฯ โดยศาสตราจารย์เกียรติคุณ ดร.สมศักดิ์ รุจิรวัฒน์ เป็นประธานในพิธีเปิดการประชุม เมื่อวันพุธที่ 21 สิงหาคม 2567 เวลา 09.00 น. ทั้งนี้ ได้เชิญวิทยากรซึ่งเป็นนักวิจัยที่มีผลงานวิจัยดีเด่นและได้รับรางวัล Lectureship Award ด้านอินทรีย์เคมี จำนวน 12 ท่าน จากประเทศจีน ญี่ปุ่น เกาหลีใต้ ฮ่องกง และไต้หวัน มานำเสนอผลงานวิจัยในรูปแบบบรรยาย เพื่อเป็นการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือในด้านงานวิจัยระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยในประเทศไทย และมหาวิทยาลัยในภูมิภาคเอเชีย รวมถึงเปิดโอกาสให้นักศึกษาระดับบัณฑิตศึกษาจากมหาวิทยาลัยต่างๆ จำนวน 20 มหาวิทยาลัย ได้พบนักวิจัยชั้นนำจากประเทศในภูมิภาคเอเชีย เพื่อเพิ่มประสบการณ์ในการทำงานวิจัย โดยมีผู้เข้าร่วมงานทั้งสิ้น ประมาณ 200 คน

งานประชุมวิชาการครั้งนี้จัดขึ้นเป็นครั้งที่ 2 มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสนับสนุนให้มีการวิจัยและพัฒนาการศึกษาตลอดจนการประยุกต์ใช้อินทรีย์เคมีอย่างมีคุณภาพ และมีความต่อเนื่องในภูมิภาคเอเชีย โดยกิจกรรมหลักของโครงการความร่วมมือคือการจัดประชุมนานาชาติอินทรีย์เคมีในภูมิภาคเอเชีย International Conference on Cutting-Edge Organic Chemistry in Asia (ICCEOCA) ซึ่งจัดขึ้นเป็นประจำทุกปีหมุนเวียนตามประเทศสมาชิก เพื่อเป็นสื่อกลางแสดงความก้าวหน้าและความสำเร็จในสาขาวิชาอินทรีย์เคมีในภูมิภาคเอเชีย อีกทั้งยังเป็นการกระตุ้นให้เกิดงานวิจัยอื่นๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้องในภูมิภาค รวมทั้งการส่งเสริมให้มีการแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ระหว่างนักวิจัย ในขอบเขตของเคมีอินทรีย์ที่ไม่ได้จำกัดเฉพาะงานเคมีสังเคราะห์ แต่ยังรวมถึง nanochemistry, green chemistry, natural products chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, structural and material sciences, environmental chemistry และการประยุกต์ใช้สาขาวิชาเหล่านี้เพื่อก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์ต่อสังคมและเศรษฐกิจของภูมิภาคเอเชีย อีกด้วย

การประชุมดังกล่าวนับเป็นเวทีสำคัญที่จะเปิดโอกาสให้นักวิจัยไทยได้เรียนรู้ความรู้ใหม่ๆ โดยตรงจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญ ซึ่งส่งผลดีในระยะยาวต่อนักวิจัยไทยให้มีความตื่นตัวในการค้นคว้าวิจัยความรู้ใหม่อยู่เสมอ และเป็นการพัฒนาบุคลากรด้านการวิจัยที่สำคัญต่อการพัฒนาของประเทศ ต่อไป
