Chulabhorn Graduate Institute held the “CGI
Songkran Festival 2014” on April 1, 2014, at the Auditorium in the Chulabhorn Graduate Institute Building. The activity aimed to carry on the Thai New Year tradition which is a unique cultural in heritance, in order to preserve Thai culture and encourage local traditions. In the morning, Prof. Dr.Somsak Ruchirawat, Rector of CGI
officiated as chairman of the opening ceremony. Then, activities began with pouring water onto a Buddha image, procession of a Buddha image, local traditional dancing from the north of Thailand, and singing with local Thai instruments. Moreover, all participants took part in the Thai New Year activity of receiving blessings from CGI
executives, lecturers and respected elders. The CGI
Songkran festival was an occasion for fostering love and being proud of Thai traditional culture, showing gratitude, as well as enhancing the harmony between CGI
staff, teachers and students.
