CGAB 604 Biostatistics (2 credits)

Course Description :

The course covers basic concepts and methods of biostatistics, their applications and their interpretation. The course will introduce student to data presentation, numerical summary measures, rate and standardization, quantifying uncertainty as well as sampling distributions and data analysis. Topics to be covered also include basic statistical techniques that are important for analyzing data arising from epidemiology, environmental health, biomedical and other public health-related research, for example:

    diagnostic testing
    probability distributions
    sampling methods
    hypothesis testing
    confidence intervals of statistical parameters
    sample size determination
significant tests using parametric and non-parametric methods
