The Third Safety in Science Education training workshop

Chulabhorn Graduate Institute collaborated with Chulabhorn Research Institute, and Centre of Excellence on Environmental Health, Toxicology and Management of Chemicals to arrange the work shop on Science Education on the topic of “Management of Chemical and Waste” to show gratitude to the His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, and also to respond to the royal initiated project on safety. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Thanuttkhul Mongkolaussavarat, Assistant Rector of CGI was the chairman of the opening ceremony, on May 30th, 2014, at auditorium room, 2nd floor, CGI Building.

The workshop was given by Assist. Prof.Suchada Chaisawat, Director of Energy Environment Safety and Health Center (EESH), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi with her team, as well as Dr.Poonsakdi Ploypradith and Dr.Charnsak Thongsornkleeb, faculty members of Chemical Biology program of Chulabhorn Graduate Institute with their team.

To continue from the workshop last year, the topic emphasized more on chemical management in the laboratory, chemical handling and storage. Additionally, it focused on methods of emitting and disposal of chemical waste in laboratory correctly, including methods of management in decrease accident, and securing themselves while on duty. Importantly, participants were able to transfer the knowledge gained from the training to their workplace.

In the workshop, there was a corner for signing the blessing cards to Professor Dr.Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol. The participants were teachers from more than 26 high schools, as well as the researchers from Chulabhorn Research Institute, and lecturers and students from Chulabhorn Graduate Institute.
